When you hear the word “Raindrop” what comes to mind? Do you find yourself in a lush green forest with glistening pearls of moisture on the leaves around you? Perhaps you are transported to a memory from your childhood watching trails of water slide down your bedroom window in the early morning hours. Maybe you envision clouds rolling in on a hot summer day and feeling those first few cool drops on your arms before you run for cover. Whatever you imagine, most would consider the thoughts and images associated with this word as cleansing and refreshing altogether. Raindrop Therapy is a relatively newer therapeutic practice that has gained popularity in recent years. It is massage technique that involves using pure undiluted essentials oils directly on the skin. This relaxing aromatherapy based service has brought a healing and cleansing feeling to many.

Raindrop Therapy How Does it Work?

The idea behind this massage is that the use of specific antimicrobial oils applied in a particular way with various techniques will reduce the body’s inflammations and destroy any viral presence. It is believed that viruses and bacteria lie dormant until the immune system weakens. The oils create an environment that is not hospitable to these “foreign” agents in our bodies and causes them to be eliminated naturally. Although this therapy was originally developed to heal issues with the spine it can now be used for many different maladies. The most important part of this therapy is the actual oils used.

Oils Used in Raindrop Therapy

  • Valour- A special blend of 4 oils, each highly praised for their antibacterial, anti-infectious, anti-fungal, antiviral, and anti-parasitic properties. This blend also is said to lift the spirits and create a sense of balance by stimulating parts of the brain

Deeper Healing

Not only can the oils enhance positive emotions such as joy and happiness, but they can also help us release negative emotions that are subconsciously stored on a cellular level.

Generally before someone steps into begin their therapy, individuals are encouraged to leave their negativity behind and only carry a positive outlook in with them. The session usually starts with the therapist checking for energetic imbalances in chakras or energy bodies along the spine to determine and hand select which oils match your needs and preferences. As the session proceeds the individuals thoughts should be carefree and relaxed so as to allow the alignment and balance to happen externally as well as internally.

One of the common techniques used by therapists is the “feather stroking technique”. This technique was adopted from the Lakota people. The Lakota people went to Canada to experience the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis (before there were border crossings and reservations). The Lakota people would raise their hands toward the light and breathe in the energy of the lights for transformational purposes. Once the Lakota people could no longer cross the border, they created a stroking technique along the spine using a feather that simulated the energy of the Aurora Borealis.
