Post-Op Lymphatic Drainage Massage SHOULD NOT BE PAINFUL or involve any fluid leaving the body.

"Post-Op Massage Lymphatic Drainage" that involves using deep pressure, machines, heat, lights, vibration, wooden or hard rollers, syringes, cutting open incisions, draining blood and bodily fluid are NOT the massages you need after surgery and do not target or work with the lymphatic system.

Draining fluid out of the body post surgery, pulling drains and using needles is out of the scope of practice for massage therapist and not legal in the state of New Jersey for massage therapist to be practicing.

To learn the difference between "Post-Op Massage" and Vodder style, gentle, hands only Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage, the science of the manual lymphatic drainage technique, the lymphatic system and why you need this kind of massage after surgery, watch the video below.

Pre/Post op sessions include customized recovery plans for each client tailored to their post-op needs, along with MLD massage. We offer full support from answering questions about the recovery process to ensuring that you have the proper foams, garments, and resources for a speedy, successful recovery.

Supplies for at home care can only be purchased during your session or in our online shop. www.amarepostopshop.com

During both of these sessions, we spend a lot of time educating our clients on how to avoid complications such as fibrosis and take care of their body during the recovery process.

Not just the massage: Pre & Post Surgery Care

Every post-op session includes the manual lymphatic drainage massage, as well as garment fitting, education on how to use your supplies, post-op diet and nutrition recommendations, reviewing results, at home post-op care instructions and more.

Choosing to have plastic surgery, elective or medically necessary, can be a long process and requires proper guidance to heal. Patients often feel overwhelmed, without support, have tons of questions about what to expect post-op, what supplies to use, and how to be proactive with their healing. This is why board certified plastic surgeons recommend Amare.

Doctors and surgeons say healing times can take anywhere from 6 months to a year, but that's without proper post-op care, proper supplies or gentle, hands only, Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage which cuts healing time down to 1-3 months.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage vs. "Post-Op Massage Lymphatic Drainage"

Post-op Massage Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle, relaxing pumping motion done to the skin. The lymph vessel are only a millimeter (a hair thick and a hair deep) beneath the skin and deep pressure would cause more swelling and tissue damage to post surgery clients. This massage technique is gentle enough to be used 72 hrs after surgery. Our sessions can be done over the compression garment.

Each Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage is tailored to your specific surgery and how your body is healing. The Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage treatments are always gentle, full body sessions, starting with the major lymph nodes, opening up the anastomosis, and then focusing on certain areas depending on where your body is holding swelling.

What to expect after your session:

Post-op Massage Lymphatic Drainage
  • Increased thirst and hunger
  • Frequent urination
  • Itchiness
  • Feeling tired
  • Garments fitting looser

We always recommend drinking 3-4 liters of water every day during your recovery, especially on the days of you sessions to stay hydrated and help the lymph fluid (swelling) move easier.
